Vijay Prakash

Born in Mysore, Vijay Prakash was trained in Carnatic classical music by Bellary.M.Raghavendra. Prakash became a student of Suresh Wadkar when he moved to Mumbai in 1996, participating in shows like Sa Re Ga Ma winning accolades for his fine method singing with classical bend.  Later films like Baaz and  Swadesh allowed him to sing for academy award winning A R Rahman. His Kannada and Tamil songs also attracted attention. He has performed vocals for various international composers and commercials aside from the films. In 2009, his song, "Jai Ho” where he sang as one of the two features, won the 2008 Academy Award for Best Original Song.

Apart from winning many national awards for film fare, Mirchi Music , Zee Kannada, BIG FM, and many others, his Tamil and Kannada songs have gained him international success as a performer and musician. His Coke Studio MTV India performance has more than a million views.

Vijay Prakash has been invited by TD Mosaic festival as the featuring artist with Berklee Collage as a master performer and our effort to create new audience from Tamil and Kannada community in Canada. Vijay will pay a special tribute show for great A.R Rahman and sing popular Hindi, Urdu and Tamil songs for the attendees of TD Mosaic 2019.
