"Vandana" – A fusion of Sri Lankan Traditional dance Sri Lanka has 3 prevalent dance traditions, namely Udarata, Pahatharata and Sabaragamuwa dance styles. All these 3 traditions have the concept of seeking permission from the Buddha, Dhamma and Sangha before the dancers take on the stage. The “Vandana” dance item, choreographed by Nilantha Karunarathna uses such similar elements as well as steps unique to each dance style to harmonize and contrast the three traditions on stage.
